Taryn Goulard (Grades K - 1)
Taryn Goulard is our K-1 teacher. Miss Goulard is originally from Pasadena, CA. She graduated from Walla Walla University in College Place, Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. Miss Goulard has been teaching for 9 years. She loves teaching Kindergartners and watching them learn and grow.
Miss Goulard enjoys music and has a beautiful voice, and plays the flute and piccolo as well. Her singing is a great addition to our daily praise and worship which we have each morning.
Miss Goulard has a daughter, Lynn. When she finds time between being a teacher and a mom, Miss Goulard enjoys painting, cross-stitching and scrapbooking.
Mariann Beddoe (Grades 2 - 4)
Mrs. Beddoe is excited to be teaching Grades 2-4 at Riverview Christian Academy. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA and her Masters in Elementary Education from La Sierra University in Southern California. Mrs. Beddoe has been teaching for 29 years. She has been a part of the Adventist education ministry for 19 of those years and is grateful for the opportunity to share her love of Jesus with her students everyday.
She is passionate about teaching young children the joy of writing and guiding them through the “publishing” process. She ends each year with an “Author’s Night” where her students share their publications from throughout the school year. Mrs. Beddoe also enjoys learning about animals, insects, and spiders that God has created and sharing that knowledge with her students. She has Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, a Tarantula, and a pet Western Pond Turtle in her classroom.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, taking walks, and spending time with her family. She has three young grandchildren that she is very happy to be living close to.
Glenn Bentjen (Grades 5 - 8)
Mr. Bentjen is our Head Teacher and teaches Grades 5-8 at Riverview Christian Academy. He is originally from Lynchburg, VA, and has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Adventist College in Collegedale, TN. He received his Masters in Education Administration through Andrews University. Mr. Bentjen has been teaching for 38 years. Two of his siblings were teachers, and he said they inspired him to follow in their footsteps. He enjoys being with children and teaching them how much God loves them! He loves Science and exploring many ways to learn - one of them is building and launching model rockets.
Mr. Bentjen is new to the area, and came to Reno because he and his wife are excited to spend time with their daughter and new grandson who live here. He also heard that Reno is a great place to enjoy the many hobbies he has outside of the classroom such as hiking, golfing and just being outdoors.
Fanga Finau (Administrative Assistant)
Mrs. Finau has been our school secretary since 2014. She is originally from the island of Tonga and attended Fulton College in Fiji graduating with a degree in Business Administraton. Mrs. Finau believes Riverview Christian Academy is a ministry and loves spending her days with the children at school. Mrs. Finau and her husband have 5 children and 11 grandchildren. She loves to travel and learn about other cultures every chance she gets.
